Seeds of Magic Progress Update – 12th Nov ’23

Another week, and a lot of progress!
So far I’ve managed 42% of my 50,000 word goal for NaNoWriMo2023. I’m looking good to meet the deadline in 17 Days.
This week I’ve been writing the first cooperation between Flynn and Achethe, as well as developing some important side characters. This is my favourite part of writing – now I know roughly who everyone is, it’s time to put them together in tough situations and let them react. Of course, sometimes these characters don’t want to follow the plot I’ve planned out, and I end up re-writing everything!
I think the Labyrinth itself is the worst culprit for this. I wasn’t expecting this book to have so many horror elements, but every time I sit down to write a scene set in this unpleasant, dangerous place, I worry whether my characters are going to survive. I suppose time will tell what type of book this turns out to be…
